Alan Weaver Associates
provide business consultancy services under the codes of practice of
The Institute of Management Consultancy,
The Chartered Institute of Marketing,
and The Chartered Institute of Personnel and
Development
We prepare for, and carry out,
consultancy projects as follows:
Step 1: Publishers make
contact to describe the business issue they are facing. We confirm our
interest in the project or, if the scope of work is outside our area of
expertise, we suggest an alternative source of advice if we know it
Step 2: We visit the publisher, learn about their present
situation, understand the outcome they desire, and we ask questions. This
meeting is not normally charged for unless significant travel expenses are
involved
Step 3: We prepare a quotation which specifies the work to be
carried out, the deliverables and the costs involved. We normally quote a
fixed consulting fee plus travelling and hotel expenses as incurred
Step 4: The project starts
when publishers have accepted our proposal. There is normally a four to
eight week delay before we can actually start work - and this because of
our existing commitments on other projects

Step 5: Most projects have four distinct phases: diagnostics (where
we identify the issues), research (where we work out the consequences of
alternative course of action), recommendations (where we present our
findings), and implementation (where we carry out the necessary changes).
We work with publishers own staff wherever possible so that our skills and
experiences can be transferred directly into the organisation
