Newspapers
Organisation A
Description
One of the largest national newspaper groups in the UK needed to change its working practices significantly because of the continuing decline in newsagents’ ability to deliver its newspapers directly to readers at home.

Assignment Objective
Help the Group Marketing Director to determine and implement a new strategy to sell newspapers to readers directly, without the involvement of newsagents. As a consequence many of the company’s policies and procedures needed to be changed, a new and more appropriate organisation structure was required, and different personal skills needed to be acquired.

Organisation B
Description
An international newspaper publishing group wanted a new subscription fulfilment and CRM system which would operate in all the offices around the world.

Assignment Objectives
1. Specify the system requirements and help determine which parts would be developed internally and which parts would be sourced through off-the-shelf products.
2. Calculate the return on investment from the new system
3. Write the Invitation to Tender document, appraise the vendor responses and create a supplier short list

 

Organisation C
Description

As a consequence many of the company’s policies and procedures needed to be changed, a new IT infrastructure was required, and different personal skills needed to be acquired.

Organisation D
Description
An international business newspaper had developed an on-line version and wanted to maximise sales revenues and profits from both products.

Assignment Objectives
1. Help the Marketing Director to identify the target market for the on-line version and how best to encourage take-up and usage
2. Determine subscription pricing of the on-line version
3. Specify back office functions such as customer services, billing and renewals
